A person or thing that cannot be saved, is doomed, or is certain to fail or die. Often used informally to mean someone or something beyond help.
Usage & Nuances
Very informal, mainly used in speech or casual writing. Common after accidents, bad medical news, or when someone is in big trouble ('You're a goner'). Don't use to talk about minor things. Usually a noun. Similar to 'lost cause'.
