To go onto a ship, aircraft, or vehicle to begin a journey, or to start something important, often a new project or activity.
Usage & Nuances
'Embark' is more formal, often used with 'on' or 'upon' when starting projects ('embark on a journey', 'embark on a new career'). It's less common in casual speech. Do not confuse with 'disembark' (to get off).
