To think about pleasant things or imagine situations while you are awake, often instead of paying attention to what is happening around you.
Usage & Nuances
Usually informal. Common collocations: 'have a daydream,' 'catch someone daydreaming.' As a verb, often used as 'to daydream about something.' Not the same as 'dream' (which is usually during sleep). Sometimes used negatively for lack of focus.
