Letting saliva come out of the mouth, often in an uncontrolled or messy way. It can describe both people or animals, and can also be used to show strong desire for something.

Usage & Nuances

Mostly informal and often used for animals, especially dogs ('a slobbering dog'). Sometimes used figuratively to describe intense desire ('slobbering over dessert'). Not usually used in formal writing. Don't confuse with 'drooling'; both mean saliva coming out, but 'slobbering' feels messier or less controlled.
