Definition

जमीन में गहरे, लंबे, संकरे गड्ढे, विशेषकर युद्ध में सुरक्षा के लिए बनाते हैं। यह किसी भी काम के लिए खोदी गई खाई के लिए भी प्रयोग होता है।

Usage Notes (Hindi)

'Trenches' शब्द आमतौर पर युद्ध या सेना के इतिहास में आता है; निर्माण या बागवानी में भी इसका इस्तेमाल होता है। 'In the trenches' मुहावरे से तात्पर्य है कठिन परिश्रम या सबसे आगे कार्य करना। 'Ditch' (छोटी खाई) से न मिलाएँ।
