Definition

推測とは、すべての事実が分からない状態で何かを考えたり想像したりすることです。また、株や不動産などで利益を得ようとリスクを取る行為も指します。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

“Speculation” はフォーマルで、ニュースや金融、学術でよく使います。“wild speculation”、“financial speculation”、“pure speculation” という形で使われることが多いです。“rumor”（うわさ）と混同しないよう注意。
