आमतौर पर नैतिक या धार्मिक संदर्भ में प्रयोग होता है। आम उपयोग: 'sinful behavior', 'sinful pleasure'। कभी-कभी मिठाइयों आदि के लिए मज़ाक में भी कहा जाता है ('This cake is sinful!')। अपराध (crime) के लिए नहीं, केवल नैतिक पाप के लिए।
