Definition

棚は、物を置くために壁や棚、戸棚などに取り付けられた平らな板です。自然の岩の平らな部分の意味もあります。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

主に家具や収納、例えば「本棚」「キッチンの棚」などによく使われます。「棚上げにする」という表現で、物事を保留にする意味にもなります。複数形は「棚（たな）」で発音が同じです。
