何かや誰かを特別な関心や興味を持って見つめること。たいていはそれを欲しかったり考えているときに使います。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

カジュアルな表現です。何かを欲しいときや人に惹かれたとき、「チェックする」ニュアンスで使います。「eyeing up the competition」なら「ライバルをじっと見ている」など。
