'Clinging' शारीरिक रूप से चिपकने (जैसे बच्चा माँ से) या भावनात्मक रूप से निर्भर रहने के लिए इस्तेमाल होता है। अक्सर नकारात्मक अर्थ दे सकता है, जैसे अत्यधिक लगाव। 'to' के साथ सामान्यतः उपयोग होता है: 'clinging to hope', 'clinging to his mother'।
