Usage & Nuances
Common in both formal and informal speech to mean 'about' or 'approximately'; also used to describe physical actions done in a harsh, unpolished way. Usually used with numbers, time, or size, but can refer to manner as well. Don't confuse with 'rough', which is an adjective.
