gagged
word · lemma: gag
Definition
Stopped from speaking by having something put in the mouth, or started to feel as if about to vomit.
Usage & Nuances
Used both for literally having something stop your mouth ('was gagged with tape') and for feeling your throat contract as if to vomit ('she gagged at the smell'). It can suggest force or discomfort. Avoid confusing with 'joke' (gag as a noun).
