Definition

تُستخدم للدلالة على أن شيئًا سيحدث فقط إذا لم يحدث شيء آخر؛ تعبّر عن استثناء أو شرط.

Usage Notes (Arabic)

تُستخدم “unless” لوضع شرط سلبي، وتوازي “if...not”. لا يُستخدم النفي بعد 'unless' مباشرةً. شائعة في القواعد والتنبيهات والاستثناءات.

I will not call you unless it is important.

لن أتصل بك **إلا إذا** كان الأمر مهمًا.

We’ll be late unless we leave right now.

سنتأخر **إلا إذا** خرجنا الآن.

You cannot go out unless you finish your homework.

لا يمكنك الخروج **إلا إذا** أنهيت واجبك.

The shop is closed on Sundays unless there is a special event.
