발로 세게 밟아 망가뜨리다. 비유적으로는 누군가를 무시하거나 권리를 짓밟을 때도 쓴다.

대체로 부정적이며 실수나 무심코 하는 행동에 쓰임(예: 군중이 꽃을 '밟다'). 'trample on/over someone's rights'는 권리를 짓밟다라는 뜻. 단순히 걷는 것에는 사용하지 않음.
