Bir şeyi el veya kolla havaya atmak demektir. Aynı zamanda birini ani bir şekilde bir duruma sokmak anlamında da kullanılabilir.

'throw' pek çok kalıpta kullanılır: 'throw a ball', 'throw away', 'throw a party', 'throw someone off' (şaşırtmak). 'toss' genellikle daha hafif bir atışı anlatır. 'throws', fiilin üçüncü tekil şahıs şimdiki zaman halidir.
