손이나 손가락으로 표면을 빠르게 움직이거나, 카드를 기계에 통과시키는 것, 또는 속어로 물건을 슬쩍 가져가는 의미가 있다.

'swipe left/right'는 터치스크린에서 제스처 할 때 쓴다. 'swipe a card'는 결제할 때. 'swipe'가 속어로 훔친다는 뜻도 있다. 'swipe at'는 공격 동작.
