Definition
위험하거나 힘든 상황을 겪고도 아직 살아 있는 상태를 의미합니다. 다른 사람들이 사라지거나 죽은 후 살아남은 사람이나 사물을 지칭할 때도 사용됩니다.
Usage Notes (Korean)
공식적, 비공식적으로 모두 사용됩니다. 특히 'surviving family members'와 같이, 누군가가 죽은 후 남은 사람을 표현할 때 자주 쓰입니다. 'living'과 달리 고난을 극복한 의미가 강조됩니다.
