어떤 것이 찢거나 잘라서 생긴 작고 얇은 조각. 종이, 천, 음식 등에 주로 사용함.

Usage Notes (Korean)

대개 복수형으로 사용됨. 'in shreds'(완전히 찢겨진), 'shreds of evidence'(적은 증거), 'tear to shreds'(완전히 망치다/비판하다) 등의 표현에서 쓴다. 문자 그대로와 비유적으로 모두 사용.
