Definition

とても大きくて高く、不快な音を出すこと。人や動物が突然甲高い声を出すことや、ブレーキやタイヤなどの機械がきしむ音にも使う。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

急に鋭く大きな不快な音を表す時に使う。'screeching tires'や'screech owl'のような表現の時に特に自然です。
