ルームメイトは、一緒に部屋やアパート、家を共有して住んでいる人のことです。通常は家族ではありません。

「ルームメイト」は必ずしも同じ部屋に住む人だけでなく、アパートや家全体を共有する場合にも使います。家族以外の同居人を指します。
