ルームメイトは、一緒に部屋やアパート、家に住んでいる人のことです。家族ではない場合が多いです。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

アメリカでは同じ家に住んでいる人にも「ルームメイト」を使うが、日本語では主に同じ部屋を共有する場合に使われる。共同生活の相手としてよく使う。
