주로 셀 수 있는 명사로 'make a promise', 'keep a promise', 'break a promise'와 함께 쓴다. 'promise'는 단순히 '하겠다'보다 더 강한 의지를 전달한다. 'show promise' 또는 'hold promise'는 가능성을 나타낸다.
