Definition

何かが水や柔らかい場所に落ちた時に出る、やわらかく丸い音。また、そのような音を立てて落ちることや座ることを指す。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

主に口語的で、実際の音をまねた表現です。水や柔らかい場所に小さいものが落ちる時によく使い、大きなものには使いません。急に座る時にも使います（例：'plopped down on the couch'）。

Examples

The stone made a plop as it fell into the water.

石が水に落ちて**ぽちゃん**と音を立てた。

He dropped the grape and it went plop on the table.
