逆説とは、一見矛盾していたり不可能に思えるのに、実は真実である場合がある状況や表現のことです。

主に学術的や哲学的な場面でよく使われます。「paradoxical situation」「present a paradox」などの表現があります。「paradox」は論理的な矛盾を指し、「irony」とは異なります。
