특정 상황이나 장소에서 어떤 일이 생기거나 존재하는 것을 의미한다. 생각이나 아이디어가 갑자기 떠오를 때도 쓴다.

Usage Notes (Korean)

'occur'는 'happen'보다 격식 있고 공식 문서, 뉴스, 학문에서 자주 사용. 'occur in nature', 'It occurred to me...'처럼 사용. 'what was occurred' 대신 'what occurred', 'what happened'가 자연스럽다.
