Definition

何かをする義務や責任がある時、または誰かの期待でそうしなければならない時に使います。丁寧な場面で感謝の意を示すときにも使われます。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

‘obliged’は丁寧な表現やフォーマルな場面で使います。‘I'm much obliged’は「ありがとうございます」と丁重に伝える表現です。‘obligated’は必ずしも感謝の意味はありません。
