「managed」は難しいことをやり遂げたり、人や物事をうまくまとめたりした時に使います。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

「managed to」で「なんとか～できた」と強調される。管理職やリーダーの仕事にも使われる。「could」とは違い、努力して成し遂げたニュアンスがある。
