Definition

棚や出っ張りは、壁や崖などから突き出た狭くて平らな部分で、棚のように使われることもあります。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

「窓の棚」「岩棚」のように建物や自然の出っ張った部分に使われます。「帳簿」（ledger）とは異なります。小さい突起した場所にも使います。
