Definition

足で地面を蹴って上や何かを越える動作。驚いたときに急に反応する意味でも使われる。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

'jump over'（〜を飛び越える）、'jump up'（飛び上がる）、'make someone jump'（驚かせる）、'jump to conclusions'（早合点する）などの表現によく使う。'hop'は片足で、'leap'は大きく跳ぶこと。
