Definition

誰かに静かにするように優しく言う時や、静かで落ち着いた雰囲気を表します。誰かをなだめて泣き止ませたり黙らせるという意味もあります。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

「しっ」はやさしく静かにと言う時に子どもに使うことが多いです。「a hush」は「静けさ」。動詞の場合「なだめる」や、「hush up」は秘密にするという意味になります。
