「掘った」は、「地面や土を道具や手で掘った」または「何かを探し出した」という過去の行動を表します。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

実際に土を掘るときや、「かばんの中を探した」など徹底的に探す意味で使います。「like」や「分かる」の俗語的な意味ではほとんど過去形で使われません。
