डिस्टिंक्शन का मतलब दो समान चीजों के बीच स्पष्ट अंतर या भेद होना है। यह किसी को दी गई विशेष सम्मान या पुरस्कार के लिए भी इस्तेमाल होता है।

यह शब्द आमतौर पर औपचारिक या अकादमिक संदर्भ में साफ़ फर्क दिखाने के लिए प्रयोग होता है। 'With distinction' यानी विशेष सम्मान से। आम वाक्यांश: 'make a distinction between'। 'Difference' से न मिलाएँ, क्योंकि 'distinction' में साफ़ या महत्वपूर्ण अंतर पर ज़ोर होता है।
