Definition

病気や高熱のために意識が混乱し、はっきり考えたり話したりできない状態。または、あまりにも嬉しすぎて冷静さを失っている状態も指します。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

医療的な錯乱状態も、比喩的に大喜びや興奮状態でも使われます。軽い混乱には使いません。「delirious with joy」は「喜びで我を忘れる」の意味です。
