誰かや何かの悪い点を指摘すること、よく欠点を挙げること。また、何かの質を分析し評価することも意味する。

多くは否定的な意味ですが、客観的な分析でも使います（例: '映画を批判する'）。'criticize someone for...' のように使います。'compliment'（ほめる）と混同しないでください。
