Definition

धीरे और चुपचाप चलना, अक्सर ज़मीन के क़रीब। इसका प्रयोग किसी चीज़ के धीरे-धीरे बढ़ने के लिए भी होता है, और ऐसे अप्रिय व्यक्ति के लिए भी जो दूसरों को असहज महसूस कराए।

Usage Notes (Hindi)

चलने के अर्थ में 'creep' में अक्सर छिपकर या बिना आवाज़ किए बढ़ने का भाव होता है, जैसे 'creep into the room'। धीरे-धीरे बदलाव के लिए 'prices are creeping up' और 'a feeling of fear crept in' जैसे प्रयोग आम हैं। संज्ञा के रूप में 'a creep' अनौपचारिक और नकारात्मक है, ऐसे व्यक्ति के लिए जो अजीब, परेशान करने वाला या अनुचित लगे।
