Definition

物の中に何かがある、あるいは含まれていることを表します。また、危険な状況や感情などを抑えるという意味もあります。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

主に内容物や成分、情報に使われます。部分を列挙する場合は「include」の方が自然。人にはカジュアルには使われませんが、「火事を食い止める」など制御の意味ではよく使います。
