Definition

自分がした悪いことや秘密、または個人的な気持ちを正直に打ち明けること。宗教的には神父などに罪を告白する意味もある。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

「confess to ...」「confess (that)...」などの形で使われ、秘密、罪悪感、真剣さを表す。'admit'より重みがあり、感情や罪を打ち明けるときに使う。
