栗はとげのある殻の中に入った食べられる茶色いナッツです。また、赤みがかった茶色（チェスナット色）や古くて使い古された冗談や話にも使います。

主にナッツやチェスナット色（髪色など）に使います。「chestnut hair」は赤茶色の髪。イギリスの「conker」（セイヨウトチノキ）は食べられないので注意。使い古された話・冗談にも使うことがあります。
