Resmî ve resmiyet gerektiren durumlarda; iş, görev, yönetici pozisyonları için sıkça kullanılır. Pasif halde ('He was appointed.') de yaygındır. 'Davet etmek' ya da 'başvurmak' ile karıştırmayın.
