فعل رسمي، يُستخدم عادة للمناصب أو الوظائف الرسمية، مثل 'appoint a manager' أو 'appoint someone as chairperson'. شائع بصيغة المبني للمجهول: 'He was appointed.' لا تخلط بينها وبين 'invite' (يدعو) أو 'apply' (يتقدم لوظيفة).
