待ち伏せとは、隠れて相手を突然襲うこと。または、そのために待ち構える行動。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

多くは軍事・狩り・犯罪の文脈で使われる。例えば「待ち伏せする」「待ち伏せにあう」などがよく使われる。突然の友好的な出来事には使わない。
