누군가 '대기 중'이면 평소 근무 시간이 아니어도 필요할 때 언제든지 출근하거나 일을 해야 할 준비가 되어 있는 상태입니다.

'대기 중'은 주로 의료·기술 분야에서 사용하며, 'on duty'(근무 중)와 달리 실제로 근무하지 않아도 언제든 출근할 수 있도록 준비된 상태를 말합니다.
