A type of small sea animal that lives in large groups and forms hard, colorful structures in the ocean; or the hard, rock-like material made by those animals. It can also refer to a pinkish-orange color.
Usage & Nuances
'Coral' is most often used for ocean life and marine biology, but can also describe the 'coral' color in fashion and design. Don't confuse with 'coral reef' (the structure) or choral (relating to choirs). Plural is 'corals'.
