Definition

何かを人生で最も大切なもの、最大の喜びと考えること。何かに強い情熱や愛着を持つ時に使う表現。

この表現は名詞や動名詞（〜すること）に続きます：'live for music'（音楽のために生きる）のように使います。深い愛情や熱中を表します。'live off'（〜で生計を立てる）とは違います。

I live for chocolate ice cream.

私は**チョコレートアイスのために生きている**。

Some people live for their work.
