継子（ままこ）

Definition

配偶者が前の結婚などで持っていた、自分の実子ではない子ども。

男女どちらにも使えるややフォーマルな表現です。家庭法や継家族の話で使われます。「養子」とは異なります。

My mother has a stepchild from her second marriage.

私の母には再婚相手の**継子**がいます。
