누군가나 무언가를 잘못된 방향으로 보내거나, 잘못된 정보를 주어 혼란스럽게 하는 것을 의미한다.

주로 공식적인 맥락에서 안내, 이메일, 관심이나 노력에 대해 사용된다. 일부러 속이거나 주의를 돌릴 때도 쓰인다.
