কিছু যা বিভ্রান্তি, বিস্ময় বা বোঝার ক্ষেত্রে অসুবিধা সৃষ্টি করে। বিজ্ঞান বা গবেষণায়, এটি এমন একটি বিষয়কে বোঝায় যা ফলাফল বোঝায় বিঘ্ন ঘটাতে পারে।

বিশেষভাবে 'confounding variable' বা 'confounding factor' শব্দবন্ধে বৈজ্ঞানিক লেখায় ব্যবহৃত হয়। অনানুষ্ঠানিক কথাবার্তায় কম ব্যবহৃত।
