裁判所などの公的な場で、自分が知っていることや見たことについて話すこと。また、自分の経験や支持を公に述べることにも使われます。

主に裁判や公式な場面で使われる表現です（例：'testifying in court'＝裁判で証言する）。日常会話ではほとんど使われません。
