একজন পরিদর্শক বা তত্ত্বাবধায়ক কোনো প্রতিষ্ঠান, ভবন বা বিভাগের দায়িত্বে থাকেন এবং সবকিছু মসৃণভাবে চলছে কি না তা দেখেন।

Usage Notes (Bengali)

যুক্তরাষ্ট্রে 'superintendent' সাধারণত স্কুল, পুলিশ বিভাগ বা ভবনের প্রধানকে বোঝায়। বৃটেনে এটি পুলিশের উচ্চ পদবির জন্য বেশি ব্যবহৃত হয়। 'school superintendent' মানে স্কুল ব্যবস্থাপকের প্রধান, আর 'building superintendent' মানে ভবনের কেয়ারটেকার। 'principal' মানেই স্কুলের প্রধান শিক্ষক–এই দুটি গুলিয়ে ফেলবেন না।
