Usage Notes (Japanese)

'stopped'は過去形で、動作や出来事が終わったことを指します。'stopped to'「～するために止まった」と'stopped ～ing'「～するのをやめた」は意味が異なります。'paused'（一時停止）と混同しないようにしましょう。
